SEO Module

The Search Engine Optimisation module (SEO) was built due to customer feedback as users asked us how they could improve the positions of their websites. The SEO module allows you to change some of the words which search engines deem important and these are the TITLE tag and the meta description and keywords fields.

SEO module in Dub3

Each of the fields require to be written in different ways;

  • TITLE - The name of the page which is shown in the Blue bar at the top of your web explorer. See the Dub3 Help page on how to write good page titles.
  • Keywords - A list of the keywords used on the page. These should be listed one after the other using a comma (,) seperator up to a maximum of 4o words. You can also add key phrases in here rather than words. The importance of these words has diminished over the years but are still important and used by search engines when ranking pages.
  • Description - The descripition field is used to briefly describe the content of the web page and again is used by search engines, not only to influence how the page is ranked but is also shown to users when results are returned. As with keywords, the importance of the text used here isn't as important as it used to be but it is still worth spending some time over when building your pages.

There are some important things to remember when adding text to any of these fields;

  • Don't over use keywords so that search engines see your site as spam. Write for visitors instead.
  • Try and keep descriptions as short and concise as possible
  • Make each page on your website have unique titles and descriptions. This helps users and search engines.
  • When creating your pages, the page name given to the page will be shown in the SEO module boxes. It is important to change these as soon as you build the page so that they get updated properly.
